Bricks For Our Future Project at the Community & Cultural Center Buy A Brick – bricks sold at $100 each. Erected a wall at MHCCC, raised $36,000. After construction costs, funds were distributed to youth groups in Morgan Hill.
Permanent Exhibit at the Morgan Hill Museum entitled “Through Their Eyes” Recognized citizens of Morgan Hill from early history days.
Creation of Volunteer Morgan Hill Organized a community service fair featuring many service agencies, with goal of encouraging high school students and other MH citizens to volunteer in the community.
Security System for xxxxx and installed bleachers at the Aquatics Center Moved bleachers to CRC from Britton School; sold orange bracelets as a reminder of domestic violence.
Rehabilitation and Upgrades to the Grange Hall Outside restoration of The Grange, built in 1907 and served as the Grange since 1937. Budget of $11,000 raised. Class fundraiser was dinner/dance/auction.
Public Art at Morgan Hill Library Public art for the New Morgan Hill library. Class did fundraising to have life-long piece of art installed at the library for everyone’s enjoyment. Plaque inscription indicates art was donated as part of the Centennial class project.
Morgan Hill Recycles Program Leadership Recycles-enhancing community recycling resources. A budget and funding plan was developed with a media and public relations arm. Receptacles were placed in downtown
Renovation of Machado School Fundraising was done for supplies, in kind contributions. Created a website, had a fund raiser at the site (picnic).
Renovating Leadership Park Cleaning and renovating the pond next to the Morgan Hill City Hall. Replumbed the aeration system in the pond, removed all weeds, fixed the irrigation system, drained the pond and laid down plastic insert in the pond, fixed the water fall and build a sponsor memorial arbor, naming it “Leadership Park”. Fundraising was a component.
Creation of Community Movie Night Community Movie Night-class project held at the Community Center Amphitheater – free to the public (film, free popcorn). Fundraising involved paying for screen, audio. Sold space to food vendors, crafters. City was a major sponsor.
Renovation of Downtown Commons Park improved landscaping, improved fencing, new sitting benches, art mural on north wall. Raised $13,500 from public, private and in-kind grants.
Creation of Art a la Carte Art A La Carte-class project held in spring as recreation for children. Continues, sponsored by City Parks & Recreation, held at MHCCC each year.
Marketing Campaign for Leadership Morgan Hill CD and brochure for their project. LMH continues to use this for public relations.
Landscape Beautification Projects and presented bench to Morgan Hill Historical Society Three part projects: spent a day at Crossroads, a mental health facility, doing spring cleaning (painting, supplying accessories for bath, bedroom, and yard work. Another day was spent at Mt. Madonna YMCA weeding, painting. Same done along the downtown median. The class presented a bench to the MH Historical House in a small dedication ceremony
Election Forums on MHAT Public Access TV Using MHAT-TV, Morgan Hill access station, the class held election forums, interviews with community leaders.
Central High School Mentoring A one day mentor at Central High School. Class members talked about their professions and how to dress for a job, interview procedures, etc.
